SECTION 8 HOMEOWNERSHIP LOAN
We recognize that some families who have been renting their home using a Section 8 voucher may be ready to buy a home of their own. That’s why RIHousing offers a loan program specifically for voucher holders, providing guidance, education and support.
Eligibility
You may be eligible if all of the following apply:
- You have been participating in the Housing Choice Voucher
- You are a first-time homebuyer*
*For purposes of this program, a first-time homebuyer is defined as a family in which no member has owned an interest in a residence during the past three (3) years. This definition also includes a “single parent” or “displaced homemaker,” within the meaning of federal law that, while married, owned a home with his or her spouse.
