Housing Choice Voucher Program

Guide to RI Communities – Glocester

As an RIHousing Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) holder, you have the ability to choose a rental home in one of 19 Rhode Island communities. We have created this guide to provide you with an overview of living in any of those communities. With a Housing Choice Voucher, you are required to pay 30-40% of your income towards rent. RIHousing will pay the balance of the rental payment directly to your landlord.

Glocester is rural in character with mostly low density residential and agricultural development throughout much of the town. Chepachet Village, located at the intersection of Routes 44 (Putnam Pike) an 102 (Victory Highway) serves as the historic, economic and civic center of the town. The town has identified Chepachet as an area to develop more both residentially and commercially. Route 44 travels east-west and leads directly into Smithfield and many other commercial areas and services; while Route 102 travels north-south, intersecting with Route 100 (Money Hill) leading to the village of Pascoag in Burrillville.
Living in Glocester:

The HCV is usable only in the zip code 02814, which is home to a number of well-maintained mobile home parks. Though dominated by single-family homes, there are several two-family dwellings that may provide rental choices.
