Contractor Training Program

RIHousing’s Contractor Training Grant provides funding to help qualified contractors cover the cost of training and resources that build skills and grow their business. The program’s goal is to expand the pool of contractors who are trained and qualified to work on RIHousing-funded residential construction projects.

Eligible Applicants

  • Rhode Island-based contractors and/or their staff who want to increase their capacity to work on residential construction projects within Rhode Island.
  • Applicants must submit documentation from the R.I. Contractor’s Registration and Licensing Board as proof of being a licensed contractor within the state.

 

Funding Amount

  • $20,000 maximum per applicant
  • Must be used as payment towards an eligible training activity and/or resource.
  • Awards will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Timeline

Training must be completed and business resources must be purchased and implemented within 6 months of receiving an award.

Eligible Activities

Applicants must identify the training and/or resources that would benefit their businesses and submit a grant application to RIHousing. 

Grant funds may be used to fully or partially cover:

  • Training (in-person or virtual)
  • Training materials
  • Tools or software
  • Licenses or similar business resources

Applicants must provide proof of the training, including a description, dates, cost, and details about the training provider.

How to Apply

  • Applicants must submit a separate application for each training or resource request.

  • Program funds cannot be used to reimburse costs for trainings or resources already paid for.

  • Awards are made on a rolling basis, but funding is not guaranteed.
