Description: a housing redevelopment project in Upper South Providence which includes 26 two- and three-story apartment buildings situated on scattered sites totaling 2.75 acres. The 26 buildings contain a total of 74 apartments, all of which are currently vacant. In 2018, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development finalized a foreclosure of the Barbara Jordan II housing development and in June of that year ownership was transferred to RIHousing. Buildings will be partially demolished in preparation for the construction of new affordable housing on the site; the effort included a community engagement effort with local residents, community organizations and others.
