HOMEBUYER EDUCATION

Doing anything for the first time can be daunting. Don’t let buying your first home overwhelm you. Check out our Steps to Buying a Home and register for a Homebuyer Education class, available in-person and online, in English and Spanish.

RIHousing customers who are first-time homebuyers are required to take a Homebuyer Education class prior to closing.

NEW: Virtual Homebuyer Education classes

“Get Educated!” from the comfort of your home! RIHousing is pleased to launch our virtual Homebuyer Education Classes to help prospective homebuyers understand the process of buying and keeping a home. The virtual option replaces our in-person class and information is presented “live” by our homebuying expert.

Our first virtual class is scheduled for October 27, 2020 at 6:00 pm.

Please note: prospective homebuyers are still able to take the online ‘Framework’ course offered by Fannie Mae, if that better suits their needs and schedule. Both class options are offered free of charge and participants will receive a Certificate of Completion for either class.

Customers who are first-time homebuyers are required to participate in one of these classes prior to closing on a RIHousing loan.

ONLINE

Need more flexibility to take the class? We’ve got you covered. Online classes feature the same basic principles taught at the in-person class and allow you to complete the material at your own pace.

FEDERAL HOUSING ADMINISTRATION 203(k) HOMEBUYER EDUCATION

Buyers who apply for our Renovation Mortgage/203(k) loan are required to complete this course. Others are welcome to take the course which covers important information if purchasing a home needing repairs.

*Please note that the completion of RIHousing’s Homebuyer Education class may not satisfy the Homebuyer Education requirements for other lenders or agencies providing down payment and/or closing cost assistance.
