PUBLIC MEETINGS SCHEDULED FOR RHODE ISLAND CONSOLIDATED PLAN AND ANALYSIS OF IMPEDIMENTS TO FAIR HOUSING
The State of Rhode Island and RIHousing encourage community members to attend public meetings to learn about the project and share their input.

Providence, RI – The State of Rhode Island and RIHousing are hosting two public meetings to gather community comments on the draft of the Five-Year 2025–2029 Consolidated Plan, the FY 2025 Annual Action Plan, and the Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI). The draft plans and AI will be available for public review between May 27 and June 26 and are accessible online at www.housing.ri.gov or RIHousing’s website at www.rihousing.com/research-reporting/. These efforts are essential to securing and directing federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program, Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and the National Housing Trust Fund (HTF).

Public Meetings:

  • Monday, June 9, 2025, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Newport Public Library – The Friends Room, 300 Spring Street, Newport, RI 02840
  • Tuesday, June 10, 2025, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Warwick Library – Large Meeting Room, 600 Sandy Lane, Warwick, RI 02889

Community voices are critical. These meetings offer important opportunities for residents, advocates, and local leaders to comment on the future of housing and community development in Rhode Island. The meetings will begin with a presentation overviewing the work to date, including data analysis, public engagement, key findings, strategy recommendations and proposed projects for FY 2025. Following the presentation, meeting attendees will be invited to participate in small group discussions to review the findings, ask questions, and provide feedback.

By July 2025, RIHousing will finalize the new Five-Year Consolidated Plan and FY 2025 Annual Action Plan, which will set the direction for Rhode Island’s affordable housing and community development strategies. These plans outline how federal funds will be used to address high-priority needs across the state. Additionally, the AI will identify barriers to fair housing experienced by members of protected classes and recommend actionable steps to address those challenges.
